A computer glitch delayed some St. Louis residents from completing applications for the city’s direct cash assistance program on Saturday.
The city began accepting applications on Saturday for its direct cash assistance program. The program is designed to donate $ 500 to 9,300 families each in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Aldermen’s board of directors allocated $ 5 million in funding for the American Rescue Plan Act earlier this year.
Several residents reported an error message to New 4 while trying to apply online.
“If we could have got it to people six months ago we would have loved it, but we know we have processes and procedures to follow. an enrollment clinic at St. Louis Community College Forest Park.
Layne said the issue was resolved in about an hour around 11 a.m.
“We were letting people know that once you refresh your browser you should be good,” Layne said. “Most of the people who had the problem were here.”
City officials said 1,103 applications were filed on Saturday. Over 550 applied to the SLCC Forest Park in-person clinic.
St. Louis resident Michael Nelson requested the stimulus check at a clinic on Saturday.
“It was fair and it was quick and easy,” said Nelson. “I was in there – 10 minutes. “
The requirements for claiming the $ 500 check, are to be a resident of the city, to earn equal to or less than 80% of the median income of the area and must also have suffered loss of income due to COVID-19. Eligible residents must have lived in St. Louis for at least one year. Only one person per household is eligible to receive payment.
City officials say the next in-person clinic will be at SLU’s Wool Center. They plan to publish future dates and times soon.
