eBay shows connection issue, minimize issue sending invoice

eBay’s system status board is currently showing a service outage with its login functionality. Going to eBay’s technical issues board didn’t show any reports (perhaps because people couldn’t log in to leave a report?), but it also revealed multiple reports of a different issue people were having. sellers.

The first page of the technical issues table has many threads from sellers reporting that they cannot send invoices to customers.

A seller explained that he wanted to send a shipping discount to a customer and had been trying to send an invoice since last night, but kept getting a red box error message at the top of the screen.

On another thread, a seller explained that two buyers had requested invoices but couldn’t generate them – “waiting for eBay to notice and fix it,” they wrote. Another seller replied that their buyers were getting mad at them because of the issue; “Please resolve this issue as soon as possible!!!” wrote the seller.

It is a chronic problem; In addition to the many threads about the issue created in the last 2 days, a seller replied to a thread started in February.

But a response from a moderator indicates that eBay does not view the issue as a problem, but rather as a usability issue for a feature that works as expected. The eBay moderator wrote in a reply to a seller today:

“I did a little research and see that the tech team noted this on a recent ticket:

“Items reported by sellers are considered ‘automatic payments’, preventing an invoice from being sent.

“Automatic payment would be considered something like immediate payment required in listings. So, for auctions, this would come into play if the seller used the “Require immediate payment when buyer uses buy it now” feature. It looks like they’re looking to find a way to improve the member experience, so that’s good to see.

“A quick call I want to make if sellers don’t require immediate payment is to check their shipping preferences to make sure they’ve checked the ‘Allow buyers to send combined payment for all items’ box. bought”. “

One seller replied, “Next, eBay needs to fix the autopay issue so our customers can pay their combined bill immediately. I’ve been complaining about it for at least a year.

Another seller pointed out the many reports that had come in in the last 2 days alone. “There are too many new reports in the past 24 hours to dismiss them out of hand without checking to see if anything has gone wrong or changed consistently,” the seller said.
