HARRISBURG, Pa. — Motorists in Pennsylvania now have more options for paying for trips across the state.
The PA Turnpike Commission has partnered with cash payment network KUBRA to offer customers the ability to use cash to pay their Toll By Plate bills or add funds to their E-ZPass accounts at any of the over 70,000 outlets, including many convenience store chains, within KUBRA’s nationwide network based in Tempe, Arizona.
C-store retailers in the network are 7-Eleven Inc., GoMart Inc., Kum & Go LC, Kwik Trip Inc., Pilot Travel Center, Royal Farms, Rutter’s, Sheetz, Speedway, Stop & Go, Stripes and TravelCenters of America Inc.
According to the commission, customers who wish to pay in cash can select the “pay” option when accessing their account online or through the PA TOLL PAY app. A list of participating retailers near the customer’s location will be displayed.
The customer must generate a payslip – which includes a $1.50 service fee – before stopping at any of the outlets to make a cash PA Turnpike toll payment.
“We are excited to offer our customers another way to pay. This new KUBRA option provides anyone wishing to take the PA Turnpike a way to pay cash tolls at a nearby retailer,” said Mark Compton, CEO of PA Turnpike. “Many travelers already visit these local pharmacies, convenience stores, or discount stores, and now they can pay a PA Toll By Plate bill or replenish their E-ZPass accounts during their stay.”
The payment option helps motorists who don’t have a bank account or don’t want to tie up funds in an E-ZPass account until their trip, the commission added.
The PA Turnpike Commission’s partnership with the KUBRA cash payment network allows Turnpike customers to visit all participating retailers in their network. Most KUBRA network retailers are in Pennsylvania, but PA Turnpike customers can pay anywhere in the United States.
Additional retailers include CVS, Dollar General, Duane Reade, Family Dollar and Walgreens.
Last year, the PA Turnpike launched its PA TOLL PAY app which allows Toll By Plate customers to pay their bills. With the app, Toll By Plate customers can also sign up for AutoPay to get a 15% discount on their bill. The PA Toll Pay app allows E-ZPass and Toll By Plate customers to easily update and manage their accounts and review account activity.
“We will continue to look to expand options to make payment more convenient for customers,” Compton said. “We are exploring other payment methods that will allow travelers to pay virtually according to their preferences.”
