Tourism cash payment system reopens

(CNS): Tourism workers on leave or without work due to the COVID-19 pandemic and border closures who have not yet enrolled in the government’s allowance program are offered a new window of opportunity to access regular monthly payments. Registration is reopened to Caymanians next week, and those who qualify will receive at least $ 1,000 per month through June. Discussions of increasing the payment to $ 1,500 per month have yet to be confirmed.

Online registration for new applicants will be available at allocation.ourcayman.ky from 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday January 26, until 5:00 p.m. on Friday January 29.

To qualify for the allowance, applicants must be Caymanians, married to a Caymanian with Certificate of Residence and Employment Rights (RERC), or be a permanent resident. They must also have worked in the tourism sector before the pandemic and no longer work full time, and not have already applied.

People who are already receiving the allowance do not have to reapply as their allowance payments will automatically be extended until June.

Once the deadline has passed, the verification process will begin. Applicants are encouraged to respond to missed calls, voicemail messages and emails, as officials from the Ministry and Ministry of Tourism may be in contact for further information.

For anyone with questions about the program, the call center will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. throughout the registration period.
