UberEATS app in Mumbai adds cash payment support

UberEATS currently has over 950 partner restaurants in Mumbai

UberEATS app has added cash as an additional payment option in its app in Mumbai. India is the first country to get the feature, and it will be rolled out to 29 other countries where UberEATS is also available. This means that Uber riders can pay cash using the same account for both apps. Additionally, UberEATS integrates the Unified Payment Interface (UPI) as a collection method for delivery partners to deposit the money they collect.

UberEATS currently has over 950 partner restaurants in Mumbai. The app is also available for Bangalore and New Delhi users. While North Indian cuisine is the most popular among people, Chinese cuisine comes second.

“We are constantly innovating to grow the business and serve more people. With the introduction of cash payments on UberEATS in Mumbai, we are delighted that India is once again the first country in the world where we are launching this new global feature today. An additional payment method not only provides more flexibility for consumers, but also helps our restaurant partners expand their reach, while allowing many other foodies across the city to experience the magic of “food and technology” through to the UberEATS app,” said Bhavik Rathod, Director, UberEATS India.

UberEATS was rolled out as a delivery pilot in Los Angeles in 2014. The app is now available in 26 countries and 78 cities around the world. UberEATS is a standalone app and its services are not integrated into the Uber app. It was rolled out to India in India in May starting with Mumbai.
